Onze bijdrage aan de cultuur en kunstsector HOME Welcome to the JK Art Foundation The JK Art Foundation manages a private collection compiled since the early 1990s by an enthusiastic art lover from North Brabant. The collection includes works by old masters as well as modern and contemporary art and has grown into a diverse collection of art. The JK Art Foundation is committed to promoting art and culture in society and one of the ways it does this is by regularly lending works from its collection to Dutch and international museums. Examples of museums that have shown works from the collection include the MoMA in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Albertina in Vienna, the Reina Sophia Museum in Madrid, the Royal Academy in London, the Kunstmuseum Bern and the National Art Center in Tokyo. The Loans Page lists works currently on display in museums. The JK Art Foundation’s collection also includes works by emerging regional artists. The Foundation provides them with a platform to show their work to a wider audience. This website provides detailed information on both the existing art collection and acquisitions, as well as highlighting ongoing restoration projects and collaborations. On October 14, the official opening of "Rubens' Atelier" (El Taller de Rubens) took place at the Prado, with the foundation in attendance. The exhibition explores what the workplaces of European painters looked like in the early modern period, focusing on the most successful and productive painter of the first half of the seventeenth century, Peter Paul Rubens. It showcases twenty paintings, two drawings, and five engravings. These works illustrate the various forms of collaboration between the master and his assistants. The exhibition also examines the physical conditions in which artists worked. It includes a reconstruction of a workshop from that time, showcasing easels, canvases, paints, brushes, palettes, and other materials (some original to the seventeenth century, others modern reproductions), alongside books, antique busts, and elements that reflect Rubens' interests and collection. I In this context, the loan from the JK Art Foundation makes perfect sense. Jan Brueghel the Younger's painting depicts teams of artists in a studio engaged in various activities, from preparing frames and brushes to the act of painting. This piece serves as a historical document, rich in details and an important source for our understanding today. Samenwerkingsverbanden. Het Noord-Brabants museum, Singer, Laren COOPERATION Partnership To share the art collection with the public, the JK Art Foundation collaborates with various partners. As the collection has its origins in North Brabant, it is no surprise that the Foundation and Het Noordbrabants Museum have found each other. The two share the goal of making art accessible to a wide audience. In the past, this collaboration has resulted in high-profile exhibitions such as ‘Zero!’ and ‘Kunst in Nederland tussen 1910-1925’ (‘Art in th e Netherlands from 1910 to 1925’). In 2021 T he JK Art Foundation and Het Noordbrabants Museum have decided to further intensify their collaboration. From now on, the Foundation will make works of art available on long-term or permanent loan. This means that the public will be able to enjoy works from the JK Art Foundation’s carefully curated collection even more often. More information about this special collaboration can be found on the website of Het Noordbrabants Museum. Works from the Foundation’s collection can be admired in the museum throughout the year. The Quist Wing on the ground floor of Het Noordbrabants Museum, for example, features rotating presentations. Modern and contemporary works of art from the Foundation’s collection are combined with works from the permanent collection of Het Noordbrabants Museum. Borremans , Michaël (1963) The Ghost II, (2008) Jan Brueghel the Younger, Allegory of a Painting (detail, first half, 17th century) Oil on copper, h. 49 x w. 77 cm, JK Art Foundation 02/04/24 Schilder van tederheid in de schijnwerpers in Heereveen en Arnhem. Pierre-Auguste Renoir stands out as one of the most influential figures in the Impressionist movement. His distinctive style, characterized by vibrant colors, bold brushwork, and adept use of light, marks a significant departure from the academic conventions of his time. Together with his contemporary Claude Monet, Renoir played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of Impressionism. One of his early works, 'Jeune Femme Debout' (Lise Trehot, 1866) (Standing Young Woman), serves as a prime example of this innovative approach. In 2025, the Kunstmuseum Den Haag plans to showcase a collection focusing on the formative years of Impressionism, for which they have requested t o borrow this notable piece. The exhibition, titled 'Paris 1867: The Birth of Impressionism,' will be on display from February 15, 2025, to June 1, 2025.
